Written by on May 27, 2010 at 12:19 pm

Here's your chance to lace up your shoes and train for the MS Challenge Walk!

This training walk begins at the Community of Christ Church in Avon and continues through D. W. Fields Park in Brockton. The walk is 10-15 miles in length with an open start time between 8:00 – 8:30 AM. Walk the entire training route or as much as you wish to do; enjoy a bite to eat after the walk; and receive some great training and health-related information. There will be Chapter staff and volunteers present to support your walk. This walk is also a great time to receive more information about the MS Challenge Walk and get personalized advice/training tips from fitness authorities.

For each Challenge Training Walk you attend, your fundraising account will be credited $50 in bonus bucks! See our training page for other opportunities.

Last-minute parties and resources

We are looking forward to the start of the 2009 MS Challenge Walk.  In the past, we have hosted many of you for our MS Challenge Walk Celebration in late August.  This was a chance for you to receive more information about the event, get your Travel and Information Guide and Change of Clothes Bag, have dinner, and hear some inspirational stories from fellow Challenge Walk participants.

In this difficult economic times, we are always looking for ways to cut expenses so that more of the money you raise goes to the mission of the National MS Society.  To that end, we decided not to have a Challenge Walk Celebration this year.  Please know though that the National MS Society will mail all the event information and supplies you need in mid-August.  In the meantime, you can download the 2009 Travel and Information Guide.

If you wish to get an early start on meeting your fellow walkers, we invite you join a training walk in either Lexington or Cape Cod, each which will earn you $50 in bonus bucks. Also be sure to stop by the Cape Codder hotel the evening of Thursday, September 8th, for early check-in and a meet and greet the night before the Challenge Walk itself.

Everyone at the Central New England Chapter is eager to see you in September at the MS Challenge Walk!

Todd is formerly the Director of Development for the Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition to reading his blog posts, you can also find Todd on Twitter.
